John Estrada has confirmed that he and his wife, Priscilla Meirelles, have agreed to take a break from their marriage.
In an Instagram Stories post on Tuesday, the actor revealed, "Priscilla and I have mutually agreed to take a break for quite some time now." Estrada acknowledged that there is more to the story but chose to keep details private to avoid hurting loved ones.
Amid speculation, Estrada clarified his relationship with Lily Hallman, whom he met in Boracay. Priscilla had previously mentioned Hallman in a cryptic comment on Estrada's controversial Boracay post. "I am not in a relationship with Lily Hallman or any other woman for that matter," Estrada wrote. "I just met her in Boracay."
Estrada explained his trip to the island was a personal retreat. "This is a private family matter, that's why I ask for privacy as we deal with this. Thank you," he concluded.
This statement follows Estrada's criticism of "fake news" spreaders. The couple has been in the spotlight since Priscilla's comment on Estrada's Boracay post: "Looking very divorced, Mr. Estrada @ Lily Hallman_." Although Estrada's comment section has been disabled, netizens captured screenshots of the beauty queen's remark.
In a previous "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" interview, Priscilla discussed their marriage's struggles, saying, "Of course we're married pa rin and we're laughing yesterday and we're having a great time. But I'm not gonna take anything that I already took up to this point." She added, "So alam niya nasa limit na ko. So whatever happens from this point on it's on him. I've done my part."
John and Priscilla married in 2011 and have a daughter, Sammanta Anechka, born in 2012.
