As we eagerly anticipate the grand opening of NCCC Mall Ma-a, we are glad to initiate a mangrove planting activity and coastal cleanup event on June 29, 2024 at Aboitiz Cleanergy Park, Punta Dumalag, Matina Aplaya, Davao City. This initiative is part of our "NCCC Mall Ma-a: Road to Opening" campaign, reflecting our unwavering commitment to environmental conservation and community engagement.
Since Aboitiz Cleanergy Park's inception in 2014, this conservation sanctuary has provided a habitat for turtles, mangroves, coastal forests, and a rich coral reef, all within a 37-hectare Marine Protected Area (MPA). With effective biodiversity conservation management practices, the Aboitiz Cleanergy Park has become a sanctuary for nearly 100 types of endemic migratory birds, marine wildlife, and critically endangered sea turtle species such as the Green Sea turtle, Olive Ridley turtle, and Hawksbill turtle.
We know that coastal areas are vital ecosystems that support diverse marine life, protect against natural disasters, and provide recreational spaces for communities. Unfortunately, pollution and debris pose significant threats to these precious environments. By organizing a mangrove planting activity and coastal cleanup, NCCC Mall Ma-a aims to mitigate these threats and promote a cleaner, healthier coastline for all.
