The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that 23 people have died and 15 are missing due to the combined effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Cyclones Ferdie, Gener, and Helen.
In its latest report, the NDRRMC said nine deaths occurred in Mimaropa, four each in Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and two in Central Visayas. Most of the missing persons were reported in Mimaropa, with 12 still unaccounted for, while Zamboanga Peninsula and Western Visayas reported three missing individuals.
The inclement weather affected over 1 million people across multiple regions, including Central Luzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas. Around 69,360 people are currently in evacuation centers, while infrastructure damage is estimated at P2.4 million.
Assistance worth P17.4 million has been provided to the victims. The NDRRMC is still validating the reported casualties.
