A totally low-key gathering with macarons for birthday cake. Eight lighted candles standing precariously on vanilla, pistachio, chocolate, salted caramel and raspberry treats that were devoured as soon as the candles were blown because who doesn't love macarons? They're the perfect alternative to cakes whose leftover sits in the fridge until you finally have the heart to chuck it in the bin. It was a night of acoustic guitar and Eraserheads. Totots strumming and the rest of us collectively singing Pare Ko as loudly and as passionately as if it was the Philippine's national anthem. As well as other Pinoy rock songs we grew up with and drank bottles of Red Horse to. Toned down versions of our younger selves sitting on the lounge room floor and simply enjoying the moment and the music, minus the beers because acid reflux is real. Of course Raven wanted something Cinnamoroll. I only wanted to get her the Cinnamoroll building blocks but Jeff couldn't resist when we went to her favourite shop that carries overpriced Sanrio stuff. He got her a Cinnamoroll water bottle and a Cinnamoroll notebook too. Met-Met's present of a yellow mermaid tail blanket completing the look for our little photoshoot. *Raven at 8 years old | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
