I went through all 237 pics and I swear, this is the only decent photo of Roma and me out of the eighteen photos that had her and me in them.
Where before she and Jelvin would kidnap me to take them as their third wheel on their dates, this time we had four kids in tow which was a totally different ballgame. More like a playdate than anything else. Our conversations more subdued. More GP than PG.
That is, when we got the chance to have a conversation at all as we were easily distracted with where our charges were and what they were doing. As far as I was concerned, I just wanted to return my nieces to their mother safe and sound.
Adlawon Vacation Farm up in Busay was a charming little place. If green was a place, this was it. And if rural summers were coordinates, the numbers would point to a something like this.
My older sister would've loved this place. She loves gardening and dreams of owning a farm far away from the city where she can watch the kids play while harvesting her carrots and kamunggays.
My dream is to be so rich to own a place like this too, minus the gardening bit because... why?
It's a very idyllic scenery: goats being shepherded back into their shed at the end of the day... horses chomping on grass... the kids complaining about mosquito bites.
Such a beautiful reset from the hustle and bustle of life and taking that moment to slow down and breathe it all in. A familiar panorama that resonates in my soul because this is the kind of view I grew up with.
This is the rural Philippines that is embedded in my DNA. The kind of landscape that connects with me on a primal level because it speaks my dialect.
It knows my heart.
