Miss World Philippines (MWP) has stood by its reigning titleholder, Krishnah Gravidez, following backlash over her participation in the viral "Guess the Bill" challenge. The video, which showed Krishnah guessing the cost of a lavish dinner, sparked controversy online.
In a statement shared on social media, MWP clarified that the video "does not reflect Krishnah's true character or values." The organization emphasized that the video was a "lighthearted moment among friends" and was posted without Krishnah's consent, leading to misunderstandings about her intentions.
Despite the backlash, Krishnah has taken responsibility and expressed regret for any negative impressions. MWP described her as a person of "integrity, compassion, and dedication" to her advocacy of spreading kindness. They reiterated their support for her as she continues to represent the country with "grace, dignity, and purpose."
On her Instagram, Krishnah also apologized for the misunderstanding, acknowledging that her actions were perceived differently by others. She clarified that she was merely an invited guest in the video and did not intend to promote an extravagant lifestyle. Grateful for the support she's received, Krishnah promised to be more mindful of her actions moving forward.
The now-deleted TikTok video, originally posted by Emmanuelle Atienza, showed the challenge, where participants guessed the bill for their dinner, totaling over P130,000. Emmanuelle, the daughter of TV personality Kim Atienza, also explained the challenge was meant as a joke.
