The Department of Information and Communications Technology or DICT has launched 163 Free Wi-Fi for All sites in Nueva Ecija.
It was personally overseen by DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II along with other officials and provincial leaders led by Governor Aurelio Umali.
Honasan said that from 2017 to June this year, DICT has established 10,064 wi-fi sites nationwide.
He explained that these wi-fi sites will serve as a digital highway to reach citizens with the fast signal and affordable internet that is essential and necessary for communication.
The 163 hotspots or sites launched throughout the province are located in 44 locations in various towns and cities specifically in hospitals, universities, markets, municipalities, public libraries and others.
The secretary also stressed the importance of Information and Communications Technology in the daily lives of the people, in maintaining the relationship of every family, and in economic development especially now that the pandemic persists.
Umali is very grateful to DICT's Free Wi-Fi for All program that has reached remote areas in the province that are difficult to access the internet such as Gabaldon, Carranglan and Pantabangan.
