Sure, I loved my coloured hair. When it was all brand new, I felt so glamorous. Photo-ready.
Until my hair grew and I realized I can't be bothered with the upkeep. That I am a basic bitch and always have been all along. I didn't wanna spend that much money on maintenance so I can have chemicals damage my hair just so I can look pretty. Once every five years or so, yes. But not every 4-6 weeks. That's the price of beauty I'm not willing to pay.
From this point on, I have decided to fully embrace my natural hair. Embrace the Morticia Addams in me while I hang out with Uncle Fester.
As I watched the "bronde" (brownish blonde) tips fall on Lito Manandic's salon floor, I felt this sense of relief to finally get rid of those bits that have grown too long and too unhealthy for its own good. I would've wanted him to chop my mane even shorter but at the same time, I didn't wanna Britney Spears it, either.
So I'm happy to wait until the next appointment. I'm coming back, for sure. How can I not? I just found me my go-to hairdresser.
"Your hair's really nice, boo," Jeff complimented. I thought so, too, even though a part of me thought he was just saying all the right things because, after all, I was shouting our lunch after. Gotta feed the driver and the bébé!
Next appointment was for Raven to meet up with her auntie El at Kmart. She promised to buy her the Lego Friends ferris wheel and all week long Raven was so excited for it to be Saturday already. She had already planned one of her lego friends characters, Stephanie, to hold her birthday at the carnival.
Of course, my character, Lukingking, was invited. A silly name I made up as a joke when we started playing Legos but somehow the name stuck and it's too late to undo it anymore.
Ended the day on the couch watching Jeff's Netflix show, Rhythm+Flow. My uptake on the rap language is pretty slow, at best, so the subtitles really help a lot. Lately, he's on a mission to educate me on the hip hop culture and I have to say it's quite interesting and I'm learning a lot on how people achieve success doing the things they love the most and simply being true to themselves and to their craft.
Also, before watching the show, I had no idea who Cardi B was. Jeff went ballistic. "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW CARDI B?! SHE'S LIKE, BIGGER THAN BEYONCE!"
What can I say? I'm a hermit stuck in my oodies stuck in the 90's.
The look of shocked defeat on Jeff's face. (Cue in Disturbed's Stupify.)
