Travel from Calamba to Manila is expected to be faster when the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Calamba Project opens in the last quarter of 2025.

This was assured by Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade during his visit to inspect the Calamba Depot on Tuesday, July 13.

According to the secretary, the said segment will traverse a distance of 56 kilometers from Solis station in the city of Manila, to the city of Calamba in just one (1) hour.
The project is currently at a 22.77 percent overall completion rate of which 15 out of 35 landowners in Barangay Banlic have been issued Notices of Taking.

Aside from the new station, PNR is also set to open its depot in Barangay Banlic with an area of ​​22 hectares.

According to Undersecretary for Railways, Timothy John Bathan, the PNR depot in Calamba is just one of the three PNR depots of the North-South Commuter Rail, including the Valenzuela Depot and Clark Depot that will serve as parking lots for trains.

About 464 wagons will run on the North-South Commuter Rail which will traverse 22 towns and cities in Central Luzon, National Capital Region and Calabarzon.

Bathan also said that this is the biggest government project to fix the country's railway system. Through the PNR Calamba Project, the trip to Metro Manila will be faster and more convenient, which will be a great help especially to students, investors and employees.
