Argenis Rivas, 29, of Queens, New York City, New York, United States has been arrested by the New York City Police Department. He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, operating an unregistered motorcycle and operating a vehicle without insurance.

At around 5:45 p.m. on July 18, 2021, Rivas allegedly took off after slamming into Jonathan Beauchamps, 4, on an illegal motor bike while the boy was playing in the parking lot of the Meadowlake Trail at Flushing Meadow Park in Queens. The boy suffered a broken ankle and bruises to his liver and lungs, his father Chris Beauchamps, 30, and stepmother told the New York Post.

Sources told the publication that Rivas is a member of the Trinitarios street gang. He later took to TikTok to share a video of himself talking about the incident.

"It was the parents' fault," Rivas said in Spanish, which was translated to English by CBS New York. "They weren't paying attention to their kid."

Using the TikTok video, a person submitted a tip to the NYPD Crime Stoppers. This led to the arrest of Rivas on July 21, 2021.
