The City starts its Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) vaccination for the economic frontliners or A4 category Monday to protect these workers.

City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Amor D. Miravite said, "We have received an advisory from the Department of Health. We can start vaccination for A4 category".

Priority groups includes: A1 frontline health workers, A2 senior citizens, A3 persons with comorbidities, A4 economic frontliners, A5 poor families, B1 teachers and social workers, B2 other government workers, B3 other essential workers, B4 social demographic groups, B5 Overseas Filipino Workers, and B6 other workforce, and C rest of the population.

Currently the City is vaccinating the medical frontliners, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.

They were vaccinated with Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, or Pfizer.

Due to the limited supply of the vaccine nationwide, the government is prioritizing giving the vaccine first to those who needs it the most.

Vaccines the city received from Department of Health (DOH) Central Office, Manila. From the central office, it reached DOH Regional Office 9 and allocated for Zamboanga City.

The City's vaccination program will cover 700,000 residents. At least 70% of the population should have Covid-19 vaccinations in order to have herd immunity.
