About 600 mangrove seeds were planted by several concerned government agencies along with various non-government organizations (NGOs), for the protection of the coast in Sitio Aplaya, Brgy. Budburan, Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro.
Vice Mayor Lynette G. Postma and members of the Sangguniang Bayan led the said activity under the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) program, going with the theme 'Planting for Better Tomorrow' which aims to organize and preserve the eco-sytem in the municipality.
Postma said, that they are set to plant two types of mangrove species on this coast called Pagatpat and Piapi, in collaboration with various organizations in the town to make the said activity successful.
Aside from the MAO, 10 groups also participated in the said activity including Mansalay Municipal Police Station, AFP-4th IB Batallion (Alpha Company), The Fraternal Order of Eagles-Philippine Eagles (Mangyan Tamaraw Maharlika Eagles Club), Municipal Disater Risk Reduction Management Office and others.
