The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will place additional Deputized Environment and Natural Resources Officers or DENROs, to be deployed in the Upper Marikina River Basin Protected Landscape (UPMRBL) to ensure enforcement of environmental laws in the protected area.
Upon the directive of DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu, during his visit to UPMRBL on August 10, he instructed the DENR Calabarzon to immediately begin the enforcement training for the DENROs.
According to Cimatu, the DENROs can help as the agency's official partner in enforcing laws within such a protected area.
Sec. Cimatu also wants to strengthen the military force within the UMRBPL. Therefore, apart from the staff of the DENR and other organizations that partner with the agency, the DENR also targets to include the staff of the PNP Special Action Forces, Bureau of Corrections, Philippine Army, and other law enforcement agencies in the enforcement training.
The agency continues to partner with the NBI, for the possible arrest and filing of charges against violators of environmental laws within the said Protected Area.
