Alexandria Louise Lind, 28, was recently arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol. She was charged with driving under the influence causing death and failure to decrease speed or use due care.
At 2:44 a.m. on August 15, 2021, Lind was driving a Lexus IS250 in the southbound lanes of the interstate at the Blue Diamond Road exit in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States when she slammed into the back of a black BMW Z4. Inside the BMW Z4 was Jennifer Ortiz, 29.
The BMW Z4 was stopped in the roadway and Ortiz was trying to push the vehicle out of the road when the crash happened, according to Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Travis Smaka. She was injured and taken to University Medical Center, where she later died.
The Nevada Highway Patrol did not confirmed whether or not both Lind and Ortiz are Las Vegas residents. The former was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
On August 16, 2021, Lind made an initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court. A status hearing on the filing of a criminal complaint will be on August 18, 2021.
