The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) -North Cotabato will provide assistance to Barangay Malamote in Midsayap town.

This is after the community needs assessments conducted in the barangay last Wednesday. The purpose of the activity is to know the needs of the barangay and meet them through DOST programs and services.

Through the DOST-Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program, science and technology interventions related to the promotion of economic development, health and nutrition, environmental protection and conservation, human resource development, and disaster risk reduction are implemented. and management and climate change mitigation. This is to make communities stable and progressive.

Meanwhile, based on the assessment conducted in Barangay Malamote, some of the identified needs of the said barangay are the potable water system, livelihood trainings for women, and consultancy services for farmers. Moreover, another of the visible needs, especially of the youth in the area, is the availability of DOST-STARBOOKS.

Apart from that barangay, DOST provincial director Michael Ty Mayo said that seven other communities and groups are the beneficiaries of the CEST Program this year. These are Sitio Antara in Barangay Nicaan, Libungan; and Sitio Dulao in Barangay Dado, Alamada.

The beneficiaries also include the HAGPAT-UMA Farmers Association of President Roxas, Panubarang Kulturanhong IP Ancestor Domain Bahani Apo of Sandawa, Inc. in Arakan, Binay Multi-Sector Peace Builder Association in Magpet, and Mlang United Bangsamoro Women's Association and Manna Farmers Agriculture Cooperative both in M'lang town.

Mayo added that the program will be implemented from the 3rd quarter to the 4th quarter of the year.
