MANDALUYONG CITY -- "The Philippine Red Cross (PRC), through our chapters, is already extending its services to communities devastated by Typhoon Jolina. Now that another typhoon [Kiko] has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), we have also notified nearby chapters to be ready to support severely affected provinces," said PRC Chairman and CEO, Sen. Dick Gordon.

Yesterday, PRC chapters from affected areas in the Eastern and Central Visayas, Bicol Region and Southern Luzon were already on standby for dispatch while some have already started with the delivery of much needed PRC services.

PRC Masbate Chapter assisted during the preemptive evacuations in Brgy. Usab as residents were stranded due to knee to waist level flooding. The chapter was also able to distribute hot meals to 541 and provided 493 individuals with face masks.

Meanwhile, the PRC chapter in Negros Occidental distributed food and non food items to a total of 286 affected individuals.

PRC Batangas Chapter also helped rescue stranded individuals at Tierra Verde Subdivision, Pallocan West, Batangas City after flooding incidents were reported. The chapter is also in close coordination with its respective LGUs.

The PRC continues to assess areas disrupted by Typhoon "Jolina" and is closely monitoring provinces included in the typhoon path of "Kiko," all these actions contribute to the Red Cross' mantra of being Always First, Always Ready, Always There. (Philippine Red Cross)
