A few years ago I made friends with an old English man who lived in Rome, Italy.
One day I went to his house and it was on a very hot August day.
Much to my suprise the man handed me a hot cup of tea and he said to me: "when the weather is this hot you can't imagine how refreshing a hot cup of tea can be".
Refreshing?!?!?!?!?!?....What?
In hindsight I can say that he was right, after all isn't that so that in many tropical countries like the Philippines people drink plenty of warming hard liquors in exteremely hot weather?
There must be a logic behind it: you make your body warmer than the surrounding weather so the hot weather actually feels cool....
A similar logic must apply to dealing with cold weather: I have been practicing winter swimming for 4 years now and, on top of having a stronger immune system, the cold air feels kind of warmer than it is....
Believe it or not in cold weather you can't imagine how warming a cold plunge can be....
