MANILA, Philippines — Coco Martin, who stars in the longest-running Philippine action TV series "Ang Probinsyano," revealed on Friday that the weekday program is entering its final three weeks on air.

"Mga ka-Probinsyano, dumating na po ang oras. Ang programang minahal ninyo ng pitong taon ay nalalapit na po ang pagtatapos. Malungkot man na tayo ay maghihiwalay, pero walang hanggang pagpapasalamat ang aming nararamdaman."

Actor Coco Martin

(Our Ka-Probinsyano, the time has come. The program you have loved for seven years is coming to an end. Sadly, we are parting ways, but we feel eternally grateful.)

"Nagbago man ang mundo, nandyan pa rin kayo. Kahit man po matapos ang teleseryeng ito, hinding-hindi po matatapos ang pagmamahal namin sa inyo. Kaya kapit lang, sa huling tatlong linggo, ito po ang FPJ's, "Ang Probinsyano, ang pambansang pagtatapos," he added.

(Even though the world has changed, you are still there. Even if this teleserye ends, our love for you will never end. So just hold on tight for the last three weeks. This is FPJ's, "Ang Probinsyano," the national finale.)

In 2015, the TV adaptation of Fernando Poe Jr.'s 1996 film with the same title premiered on ABS-CBN.

The series' action-packed episodes and relatable tales of Philippine crime and the justice system captured the attention of many Filipinos—the reason behind the show's multiple season renewals.

Susan Roces, the wife of "The King," Fernando Poe Jr., is among the notable artists who have participated in the popular program. Just in May, the veteran actress passed away due to severe illness.

An initial rumor claimed that the series would conclude on July 29 to honor the birthday of the Queen of Philippine Cinema, who played a pivotal role in the series. She portrayed 'Lola Flora,' the grandmother of Martin's character Cardo Dalisay, who consistently prayed for his grandson's protection.

The drama series, which has 1,679 episodes and is currently in its ninth season, now focuses its story on Cardo and Task Force Aguila's battle against evil government officials.

The series was the top trending topic on Twitter last Friday. Many were shocked by the upcoming finale, but some netizens were excited to finally see the story's conclusion.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

It is with dear sadness for me to learn that FPJ's Ang Probinsyano is concluding after a run of almost 7 years. This show has been a forefront of my TV viewing over the past few years.

I am grateful to Coco Martin for bringing the action genre back on TV.

The FPJ's Ang Probinsyano's last three weeks will be an iconic ending to Philippine TV. This action drama represents how the PH government works, and this series will be missed forever on PH TV by the viewer. Kudos, ABS-CBN, for making this 7-year world-class action drama series.

'Ang Probinsyano' will be succeeded by the fantasy action series Darna starring Jane de Leon and Iza Calzado, on August 15.
