Comedian Caloy "Ogag" Alde, 60
By Cynthia Montojo
Over the weekend, July 23, 2022, it has been confirmed by people close to Caloy Alde, that the actor has died at the age of 60.
Philippine showbiz sees the last of another talented comedian Carlos "Caloy" Alde.
Sometimes referred to as the "Mr. Bean of the Philippines," Caloy is more popularly known as "Ogag" (gago spelled backwards) after playing the lead role in the alternative comedy on TV5 with the same title.
While his wife, Rhoda Porral-Alde, and son Marley, have yet to say anything about the death of Caloy, the matriarch of the family changed her display photo on Facebook to black.
She also shared post from FB group World of Prayers, about finding strength and hope amid trying times.
Some of Caloy's co-workers in the industry also wrote messages of remembrance and condolences for the actor and his family.
Two years ago on June 3, 2022, Caloy suffered from heart condition and was sent to the emergency room in a hospital in Fairview, Quezon City.
Colleague and close friend, Gene Padilla, provided details about the occurrence.
Gene shared, "As per his wife Rhoda, minanas na si Caloy dahil sa enlargement of the heart at may tubig siya sa lungs…baka i-dialysis din siya dahil hindi maganda ang lagay ng kidney niya."
As form of support, Gene co-found the group COVIDYANTE, which aims to give assistance to Covid-19 frontliners and fellow comedians who are suffering from any sickness.
Comedians Mahal, Dagul, and Boy Alano were some of the first beneficiaries of the group.
Other members of GRUPO COVIDYANTE are Ogie Alcasid, Michael V., Herbert Bautista, Janno Gibbs, Vhong Navarro, Joey Marquez, Paolo Contis, Dennis Padilla, Bayani Agbayani, Kim Molina, Jerald Napoles, and Ai-Ai delas Alas.
