[New post] Metro Manila Shows Surge In COVID-19 Cases

MANILA, Philippines — The active COVID-19 cases in the country have risen to 9,000, as data shows from the Department of Health that there are additional 1,302 COVID-19 cases were recorded on Saturday, July 2.
According to independent analytics group OCTA Research fellow Guido David, Metro Manila has the latest infection, with 625 cases. Quezon City has a record high of 139 new cases, while Makati and Manila both have 83 news cases.
Parañaque – 52 new cases, Pasig – 40 new cases, Pasay – 38 new cases Las Piñas – 34 new cases, Mandaluyong – 34 new cases, Taguig – 29 new cases, Muntinlupa – 24 new cases, Malabon – 6 new cases, Navotas – 5 new cases. Meanwhile, Pateros is the only NCR city with 0 new cases.
OCTA has previously said that COVID-19 cases in NCR may peak by the first or second week of July, and 5,000 per day is expected at the peak of the "weak surge."
The DOH continues to remind Filipinos to get vaccinated and booster shots and follow the existing protocol like wearing face masks, disinfection/sanitation, and avoiding crowded places.
