Are you dependent on a minimum wage earner? Are you 18-30 years old? Are you at least a high school graduate with no work experience yet? Are you willing to work for three months in any government office within Region 1?

If yes, then this opportunity is for you!

The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 (DOLE RO1) is looking for 292 interns under the Government Internship Program (GIP). They will work beginning this August and up to November 2022.

Government Internship Program or GIP is a component of KABATAAN 2000 under Executive Order (EO) no. 139 s. 1993, and DOLE Administrative Order No. 260-15, which aims to provide opportunities and engage young workers to serve the general public in government agencies/entities' projects and programs at the national and local levels.

The government Internship Program (GIP) aims to provide young workers (poor) opportunity to demonstrate their talents and skills in the field of public service with the goal of attracting the best and the brightest to pursue a career in government service, particularly in the field and disciplines related to labor and employment.

Objectives

  • To provide young workers, particularly the poor/indigent and young workers, the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and skills in the field of public service with the ultimate objective of attracting the best and the brightest who want to pursue a career in government service, particularly in the fields and disciplines related to labor and employment.
  • To fast-track the implementation and monitoring of DOLE programs and projects related to employment facilitation and social protection, all of which directly contribute to the goal of inclusive growth through massive employment generation and substantial poverty reduction.

Each GIP intern will receive a P370 stipend per day.

DOLE Regional Director Atty. Evelyn R. Ramos emphasizes that for this GIP batch, priority is given to dependents of minimum wage earners, to help alleviate the effects of inflation on low-income families in the region.

Minimum wage earners are those receiving P312 to P370 daily rates.

"The DOLE, through the leadership of Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma, feels for the parents and breadwinners who are earning minimum wage. Hence, we offer this program to enable their capable children or dependents earn for themselves and augment their family's income," said RD Ramos.
"Likewise, we give these young people the opportunity to gain work experience, and open them access to enter government service which may propel their careers soon," she added.

The DOLE RO1 has allocated the amount of P 7,318,910 for the program. It shall fund the wages and insurance coverage of the interns.

The GIP interns will be deployed to various government agencies across the region. These include local government units (LGUs), regional line agencies, and other provincial/satellite/field offices.

Qualifications (DO 204-A Series of 2019)

  1. At least High School/Senior High graduate or other equivalents under ALS or voc-tech graduate
  2. Between 18-30 years old, except those potential beneficiaries from areas hit by natural disasters, man-made calamities, or affected by armed conflict, and where government regulations that caused displacements were implemented.
  3. Without work experience, except those potential beneficiaries from areas hit by natural disasters, man-made calamities, or affected by armed conflict, and where government regulations that caused displacements were implemented.
  4. Dependent on Minimum Wage Earner (P312 to P370 daily wage)

Requirements

  1. Any of the following:
    • Transcript of Records (College Level/College Graduate)
    • Form 137/138 (High School Graduate)
    • Certificate of Graduation (Voc-Tech Graduate)
    • Any Certification from school or any document equivalent to this effect
  2. Certification from the establishment that their parent/guardian is a minimum wage earner; or Certification from BIR; or any certification or proof equivalent to this effect

Note: Please prepare scanned copy/camera photos of Documents and 2x2 pictures before filling.

When is the Deadline for Application?

The deadline for Application is on or before August 7, 2022

How long is the Work Period?

The work period usually starts in August and ends in November. It has three (3) months of work experience and can be useful to apply for a job in a private/ public office. The actual date of duty is from August 15, 2022 - November 15, 2022

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) started as a small bureau in 1908. It became a department on December 8, 1933 with the passage of Act 4121. The DOLE is the national government agency mandated to formulate and implement policies and programs, and serve as the policy-advisory arm of the Executive Branch in the field of labor and employment.

On December 8, 1933, the Bureau of Labor was constituted as a Department by virtue of Republic Act 4121. To carry out its mandate, the DOLE has 16 regional offices, 83 Field Offices with four (4) Satellite Offices, 38 overseas posts, 6 bureaus, 7 staff services and 11 agencies attached to it for policy and program supervision and/or coordination. It has a total manpower complement of 9,120. For 2013, the DOLE has a total budget of P8.083 Billion.
