PH's First Science Terminal Building Will Rise in Bicutan, Taguig

By Nidz Godino

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has officially commenced  construction of the Taguig City Science Terminal and Exhibit Center at the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Compound in Bicutan.

DPWH National Capital Regional Director Nomer Abel Canlas said groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for this joint project together with DOST and  local government unit of Taguig City.

The project is originally intended to address traffic congestion and commuter woes in Bicutan by building an integrated terminal. Five year after its first conceptualization and series of meetings, an exhibit center was later added to the plan.

Once  construction of  integrated terminal and science center building is completed, it will be the first of its kind in the country to date.

The five-storey building will soon rise in a 13,680 square meter area at  DOST Compound. First to three floors will be dedicated to  public transportation hub while upper two levels are  executive offices and  Science and Technology Exhibit Center.

The science terminal is aimed to spark interest to  commuting public, especially to students, to pursue an education and career in science.

With  project allocation of P326 million, the science terminal is target to be completed mid next year.2023.
