All building officials, acting building officials, and city, municipal engineers were instructed to submit comprehensive report of findings on buildings that have sustained damage from earthquake that hit Luzon.
This is pursuant to National Building Code Development Office (NBCDO) Memorandum Circular No. 01, series of 2022 issued on July 27 by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan, mandating building officials immediate inspection of buildings for vulnerability to seismic hazards and,or damage and implementation of remedial measures to address findings.
Secretary Bonoan noted that building officials especially in Cordillera Administrative Region and Region 1 are now conducting assessment of structural components of both public and private buildings affected by earthquake to ensure compliance to the Building Code.
Building officials shall also require establishments to submit data collected or recorded through earthquake recording instrumentations to determine extent of damage and direct building operators, owners, or occupants to take appropriate actions.
The DPWH Secretary through NBCDO expects to receive comprehensive report containing list of damaged buildings in their jurisdiction and remedial measures being undertaken or to be performed in the coming days.
