It keeps coming to me…
my soul-inspiring experience
from caregivers who heed the cries and hunger
of the abandoned-mentally-challenged youngsters.
I see courageous caring bounded by Jesus kind of loving!
Caregivers who see and feel the gravity to act
to the call-- for the helpless children of God.
Caregivers whose zeal, love, and passion are grace-packed
opened to the perspective from above,
to be greater than themselves but not about themselves—a gift to be unwrapped!
In suffering, struggles, and sinfulness,
made qualified in God's pace, love, mercy, and embrace
graced to see the beauty, dignity, and innocence
of scarred children, regarded by some with disdain
but respected by them, with true freedom gained!
It is coming into me…willing the good of others makes them hopeful
from laborious guiding and watching over unique young souls,
and more loving, humble tasks so admirable and noble-
fulfilling divine care that graced, in abundance, its meaning of choice!
Caring with respect, not for handsome remuneration,
sustained by Jesus' contagious love so encompassing
that wills to carry the cross even to the point of crucifixion,
painful dying and birthing to a new glorious heart blessed from above!
Caregivers; care receivers of the innocents' hugs and smiles
that exude unbelievable fruits of vulnerability, uncertainty,
and community of care--flows the energy and life force so inexplicable
that comes only from the Source of surety and magnanimity!
It goes deeper, and I agree.
It does not come easy with human reason,
but it finally hit me! Profoundly!
It is beyond logic, emotions, and explanation!
Madness for some, but a loving response to a God
who is madly in love with humanity!
Caregivers' core radiates mysterious loving heroic holiness.
Immersed in an unwavering commitment - a grace that moved them,
with love and joy, quenching and feeding the thirst and hunger of individuals,
in fusion with Jesus's life, death, and resurrection-the greatest freedom of all!
How is this for me and my ministry?
It is clear to me …
I am not only giving care to persons entrusted to me,
I am also receiving care through them from the Giver Himself!
Graced with His gifts and virtues!
In times of failure, mistakes, sins, and fear of life itself,
graces that make me refocus, open, and cling more to Jesus!
Building up a friendship with Him through spiritual formations,
encountering Him in the interior sacred space in silence and prayer,
finding Him in His creations, even in persons who are hurting and insulting,
seeing more crystal clear my sinfulness-- begging constantly:
"Jesus, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me, a sinner!''
Awakening true belongingness, acceptance, and hospitality
to persons who need friends and companions in prayer.
Listening with a heart to Jesus' perspective over self;
embracing suffering as sacred opportunities for humility,
perseverance, fortitude, prudence, temperance,
equanimity, Cura personalis, and Magis
to be nurtured, by the Gifter Himself, in-depth and breadth!
Everything is a grace at work in God's rhythm for His glory!
I pray that I may see its full maturity in action;
in my remaining days as a campus minister, mother,
grandmother, sister, friend, and neighbor;
and in His grace, entrance to ''eternity in which to rest,'' might be granted!
With overflowing confidence and gratitude, I say …
caregiving is care receiving …
the meeting and merging of human hunger, longings,
love, hope, faith, and joy in mission,
with Divine desires, personal care, love and healing,
gladness in arduous mission, peace of JESUS CHRIST –
THE WELLSPRING OF GENUINE CARE!
