OP, DSWD assists kin of slain Or Mindoro broadcaster

"We will try to get to bottom of this…marami na kaming mga lead kung ano-ano ang mga motivation na pwedeng nangyari," Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla direct National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate killing of radio broadcaster in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
As these developed at least P55,000 in financial assistance has been given by Office of the President (OP) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for bereaved family of Oriental Mindoro radio broadcaster Cresenciano "Cris" Bunduquin who was shot dead Wednesday.
Presidential Task Force on Media Security executive director Paulino Gutierrez said P40,000 in cash aid came from OP to help with expenses of Bunduquin's family.
On the other hand, government is dangling P50,000 reward for information that could lead to arrest of the triggerman, according to Gutierrez.
DSWD has donated P15,000 cash and burial assistance, and is mulling possible educational assistance for children of the slain broadcaster.
Bunduquin was killed in shooting incident in front of sari-sari store in Calapan City early Wednesday morning.
Police said moments after suspects fled from crime scene, Bunduquin's son chase attackers and "accidentally bumped" into motorcycle of suspects, causing motorbike to careen.
One of the suspects died on the spot due to injuries, Narciso Ignacio Guntan sustained head injuries that caused his swift death, according to police.
We're asking NBI to look into it… because we want to know motives, motivations," Remulla said in interview.
The radio broadcaster, identified as 50-year-old Bunduquin, was shot by two unidentified perpetrators at 4:20 in the morning on Wednesday.
According to PRO MIMAROPA, Bunduquin was radio commentator working for DWXR 101.7 Kalahi FM MUX Online Radio.
One of the suspects was also killed on Wednesday, the Police Regional Office Mindoro Marinduque Romblon Palawan (PRO-MIMAROPA) said.
Meanwhile, the other suspect fled to an unknown direction.
Person of interest in killing of Bunduquin has already been identified, said Police Colonel Samuel Delorino, Oriental Mindoro Provincial Police Office chief and Special Investigation Task Group commander.
"Follow-up operations and leads from pieces of evidence gathered at crime scene, members of SITG have already identified person of interest, we will update public with details as to development of investigation…we guarantee to bring swift justice to the victim and his family," Delorino said.
PNP public information office chief Police Brigadier Redrico Maranan said Special Investigation Task Group was created to conduct an in-depth probe on the incident.
Maranan said PNP chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. has directed Police Regional Office 4B and Calapan City Police Station to hasten investigation and identification of perpetrators.
Maranan, who is also chief focal person for Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS), said PNP is contacting Bunduquin's family and work colleagues to gather more relevant information.
"While his work as a media representative involves discussion of critical issues, we cannot fully conclude as of this time motive is work-related, but we are exploring all possible angles as of this time, we assure our media colleagues that PNP prioritizes security of those working in media industry… PNP Media Vanguards will directly oversee course of investigation of this incident" Maranan said.
