"We are asking for writ of habeas corpus for police to present Chinese in court…we would like to know why they are still in police custody," Ananias Vargas, counsel for Xinchuang Network Technology Inc.told reporters five Chinese were among over 2,000 suspects arrested by police during raid last month.
In interview with reporters, Vargas said company filed petition for issuance of writ of habeas corpus on behalf of Chinese who were ordered released by Department of Justice (DOJ).
Vargas said Chinese have yet to be freed from detention by police Anti-Cybercrime Group.
Chinese nationals are facing charges of anti-trafficking in persons law.
Vargas also presented certifications signed by Bureau of Immigration dated July 11, showing Chinese nationals who underwent inquest proceedings before DOJ "are not in BI's hold departure order or watch list."
Police maintained Chinese were undocumented foreigners since "they do not have passports and other proper documents."
