Woman barred from leaving Ph for using cousin's identity

Immigration authorities are looking into 20-year-old woman suspected to be victim of human trafficking was prevented from leaving country after she was caught using her cousin's identity, Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported.
Woman was intercepted at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 as she was about to board flight for Saudi Arabia on Sept. 17,2023.
During initial inspection, woman told immigration officers she was 30-year-old scheduled to work as house maid in Saudi Arabia.
She admitted during secondary inspection that she was only 20 years old and had used her cousin's identity.
BI found that woman's passport was "fraudulently acquired" and brought her to Inter-agency Council Against Trafficking for further investigation.
Passport woman used would be "forwarded to Department of Foreign Affairs for appropriate action," BI added.
