While reading an article from the "Get Real Philippines" blog, I stumbled upon this sentence " the reason the poor continue to think like poor people is because of "activists" who insist that they be subject to mere pwede-na-yan standards and not the excellent world-class standards that truly prosperous people aspire to meet".
Abiding by First World standards is not a luxury that only the wealthy can afford but it's precisely what creates a First World country.
The wealthiest countries in the world are the ones where people abide by the law and where the level of discipline is high.
This is, for example, what can easily be observed here in Europe, where the richest countries like Scandinavian countries, Switzerland, Germany etc are the ones where the people abide by traffic rules. Such places as Greece, Southern Italy where traffic laws are merrily ignored etc are the more backward ones.
There is no way the Philippines can make any progress by insisting that the poor should be exempted from keeping their vehicles safe and from abiding by the law.
It's exactly the other way around: discipline creates wealth.
