Actor Dominic Roque has lodged a criminal complaint for cyber libel against showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin. The case was filed at the Office of the City Prosecutor in Pasig City on Friday, according to a report by Nelson Canlas.
"The malicious statements and innuendos made by Fermin on her YouTube channel 'Showbiz Now Na' formed the basis of the actor's case," Canlas shared on Instagram.
In a phone interview with GMA News Online, Fermin mentioned that she was unaware of Roque's complaint until she received messages from GMA. She acknowledged Roque's right to file the case and stated she would await the subpoena.
"I didn't know about it yet," Fermin said. "We haven't started with Bea's case either; we haven't received the subpoena yet. It's their right. Let's see what happens when we respond, right?"
Earlier this month, actress Bea Alonzo filed a similar cyber libel case against Fermin, Ogie Diaz, and their co-hosts for spreading false and damaging information on their online shows.
Alonzo and Roque had previously made headlines in February when Boy Abunda confirmed their split. The couple, who got engaged in July 2023, announced the end of their engagement and relationship.
Alonzo is currently filming her upcoming series with Carla Abellana, "Widow's War."
