Efforts to locate "Alice Leal Guo" at the address listed on her NBI clearance have proven unsuccessful. According to a report from 24 Oras on Wednesday, the residents of the house denied any connection to "Alice Leal Guo." The couple confirmed that the property had been rented as a parlor for the past two decades and that no individual by that name had lived there.
Further complicating the search, NBI agents and GMA Integrated News discovered that the listed street address did not exist.
During a Senate hearing on Wednesday, Senator Risa Hontiveros presented an NBI document of another "Alice Leal Guo," who shares the same name, birth date, and birthplace as the suspended Bamban mayor.
Suspicion of Identity Theft
"Is it a coincidence that there are two Alice Leal Guos born on July 12, 1986, in Tarlac? Is it a coincidence that this NBI clearance was applied for just a few days before the date of filing of the delayed registration of birth of the other Alice Leal Guo in Tarlac City? Or is this a case of stolen identity?" Hontiveros questioned during the hearing.
"Has Guo Haping assumed the identity of a Filipino woman and then, nearly a decade later, run for public office? Who is this woman named Alice Leal Guo who doesn't resemble the mayor? Where is she now?" she added.
Mayor Absent from Hearing
The Bamban mayor did not attend the hearing, citing illness and stress.
The investigation into the true identity of Alice Leal Guo and the possible case of identity theft continues.
