Rabiya Mateo, Miss Universe Philippines 2020 and Sparkle actress, has revealed she was a victim of a suspected investment scam.
In a report by Aubrey Carampel on "24 Oras" Wednesday, Mateo shared that she was invited by an acquaintance to invest her money. Initially, the investment seemed promising, with returns coming in as expected for about two years. However, things took a turn for the worse, and she has yet to recover a significant portion of her investment.
"It's been like two years na OK naman 'yung investment, bumabalik naman siya. However, bigla nalang naputol," she said.
"So ako naman, kailangan natin ipagpatuloy 'yung buhay. Masakit man, but there's still a lot of means for me to get my money back," she added. "So I'm still hoping and praying na sana, sana mabalik."
Moving Forward with Caution
Despite the setback, Mateo remains open to investing. She has already invested in a jewelry business and is planning to explore real estate. She emphasizes the importance of being cautious and smart with money, particularly given the fluctuating nature of the showbiz industry.
"We really need to be smart with our money kasi alam naman natin 'yung showbiz may on-season may off-season. So technically during my off-season, I need to do something meaningful pa rin," she said.
Current and Upcoming Projects
Rabiya Mateo currently co-hosts "TikToClock," which airs weekdays at 11:00 a.m. She also has a special role in the upcoming Kapuso series "Pulang Araw," featuring Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards, with Dennis Trillo. "Pulang Araw" will premiere on Netflix on July 26 and start airing on GMA Prime on July 29.
