Blackpink's Jennie has issued a public apology after being seen vaping indoors. The incident, which sparked controversy on social media, was addressed by her label, Odd Atelier, on X (formerly Twitter).
"We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with Jennie's actions in the content released on July 2," the agency stated. Jennie has acknowledged her mistake, expressing deep regret for vaping indoors and causing inconvenience to the staff. She has also personally apologized to all affected staff members.
The agency extended their apologies to disappointed fans and assured them that measures would be taken to prevent future incidents. The controversy erupted on July 8 after a video of Jennie vaping indoors, which was part of a vlog uploaded to her YouTube channel on July 2, circulated on social media. The footage showed Jennie vaping while getting her makeup done and blowing smoke towards the staff, but the scene has since been deleted.
In December, Jennie launched her own label, Odd Atelier, focusing on her solo career. This development followed the renewal of Blackpink's exclusive contract with YG Entertainment for group activities. Additionally, Jennie started her TikTok account in June, further engaging with her fans.
Jennie made her solo debut in 2019 with the hit song "SOLO."
