The altercation occurred on August 27, 2024, after the victim repeatedly complained about the poor taste of "tuba" (coconut toddy) produced and sold by the suspect, a 56-year-old man. According to the Cebu Police, the suspect became furious over the victim's complaints. During their argument, the victim reportedly threw the first punch. In response, the suspect pulled out a sickle from his waist and slashed the victim's neck. Despite his injury, the victim managed to seek help and was quickly taken to the hospital by responders. The suspect was arrested on charges of frustrated homicide but has remained silent about the incident. Police Col. Percival Zorilla, director of the Cebu Police Provincial Office, mentioned that the two men had a history of altercations and had engaged in a fistfight before. | | | |
