"Pag ako nanalo sa lotto..."
I used to hear the statement above from my dad when we were young. He is fond of buying lotto tickets almost every day. Whenever we're on the way to the outlet, he always tells us about his plans for what he would do if he won the jackpot. His plans, in fact, change over time. Just recently, he asked me if five million pesos would be enough for me. I told him that each of his four children should receive at least ten million, and five million each for his grandchildren. 🙂
Oh, to dream of becoming a millionaire in an instant.
"Tataya na lang talaga ako sa lotto." — This has been my automatic response whenever a frustrating or saddening event happens—whether it's about the government, work, or anything disappointing; or when I realize that something I want is far from becoming reality, like spending a month in South Korea. 🙂
Nevertheless, I never bought a ticket until we returned from our trip to Japan last May.
During our trip to Osaka and Kyoto, Jeff noticed that luck seemed to be overflowing in me. (Disclaimer: I grew up not believing in luck.) We were able to buy the famous Rikuro Cheesecake on the busy streets of Umeda without spending much time in line. I got Davely version 4 the first time I played gashapon (toy vending machine), and right after that, I won another Davely keychain at a different shop, leaving us both amazed.
Imagine a nine-member girl group with collectible dolls as merchandise, around five pieces of each color tucked inside a vending machine. I have to insert four 100-yen coins for a chance at my favorite doll. The odds of getting the one I want is incredibly slim, yet on my very first try, I managed to get exactly what I was hoping for!
And it happened not just once, but twice! Haha!
The story didn't even end there! Just six days after we returned home from Japan, I won two SVIP tickets to the Twice-Oishi Owow-Owow Fanmeet! Grabe, ang lala!
I also got an update about my promotion at work, but with everything happening around my fangirling, it almost felt like a minor detail. The excitement was just too overwhelming! Haha! Gosh, the thought of seeing Twice again, at malapitan!
With all these lucky breaks, it's no wonder Jeff and my friends started urging me to try my luck in the lotto. 😀
