Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy and his four co-accused will remain detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, despite a Quezon City court order for their transfer to Quezon City Jail, according to the PNP.
PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo stated that the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) had also ordered that Quiboloy and his co-accused remain in PNP custody due to the non-bailable nature of their charges under the Anti-Trafficking of Persons Act of 2003.
"We don't want to risk transferring them to Quezon City where they might post bail. The PNP would lose control over the situation," Fajardo explained.
The Quezon City Regional Trial Court had issued a separate order on September 9, 2024, instructing the transfer of Quiboloy and Cresente Canada to the Quezon City Jail, while three female co-accused were to be moved to the Quezon City Jail - Female Dormitory.
The PNP's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) plans to inform the Quezon City court of the Pasig RTC's decision and request that the detainees remain in PNP custody.
Quiboloy and the other accused are also facing charges for sexual abuse of minors, alongside the human trafficking allegations.
To resolve conflicting arraignment schedules in Pasig and Quezon City courts on Friday, Fajardo said Quiboloy and his co-accused would attend the Pasig court in person and the Quezon City court virtually.
