Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Butuan City - POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 13 reported a 36.87% drop in index crimes in the region during the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year.
Index crimes involve crimes against persons such as murder, homicide, physical injury, and rape and crimes against property such as robbery, theft, carnapping/carjacking, and cattle rustling.
Data from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division 13 showed that PNP Caraga recorded a total of 415 index crimes for the month of January to March 2020 which dropped to 262 for this year, tallying a difference of 153.
"The significant reduction of index crimes in Caraga signifies an effective anti-criminality campaign of the Philippine National Police in partnership with other law enforcement agencies and the community, even amid the COVID-19 pandemic," RD CARAMAT, JR said.
The region's top cop attributed this success on the commitment of every member of PNP Caraga to effectively carry out its mission of serving and protecting the people. (PMaj. Dorothy M. Tumulak)
