"And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." I consider this to be one of the challenging phrases from the Lord's Prayer. There were moments in my life when it was hard for me to forgive and denied one forgiveness, especially when the offender was someone close to my heart. I realized that I should not have done that, for I also committed sin but received unlimited forgiveness from God.
The gospel is a powerful reminder for us that we should not withhold or deny forgiveness from our brothers and sisters. We are all sinners who received infinite forgiveness and unconditional love from God. Refusing to forgive will only prolong our suffering, leading to a life of bitterness and a desire for vengeance. Choosing to forgive can be difficult, but it is essential for our own well-being. Forgiveness is a grace from God, a spiritual journey that involves His intervention. Let us always ask Him for the strength to forgive and trust His love and mercy.
