With the overwhelming distractions of the current generation, it is easy at times to think doubt or question one's faith. There were times when I would wonder if God really heard my prayers or if He was even interested in our lives. But the centurion's faith inspires me to believe without hesitation. He trusted in Jesus' authority and believed that a mere word from Him is enough to bring healing.
The Gospel teaches that our faith matters. Jesus notices and commends strong faith, regardless of our background, race, status or age. It encourages us to trust even when things seem impossible. It leads us to believe fully that God can work miracles in our lives. God is in control. Let us take this lesson to heart and nurture our faith, knowing that Jesus appreciates and responds to our trust in Him, how little or profound it may be. Like the centurion, let us believe that even a simple prayer can move mountains.
