Ben&Ben has issued two separate statements to clarify recent controversies involving their performance at Far Eastern University (FEU) Diliman and a previous issue with fellow OPM band Tanya Markova.
FEU Diliman Event
The band responded to accusations that they were responsible for other artists being unable to perform at an August 17 event at FEU Diliman. Social media users speculated that Ben&Ben's actions led to Bicolano singer-songwriter Dwta being unable to take the stage.
In their statement, Ben&Ben explained that there were delays during the event, and their management was in constant communication with the organizers to ensure all performers could go on as planned. Despite their efforts, the band expressed disappointment that Dwta could not perform, a decision made by the event organizers.
Ben&Ben emphasized that they prioritize the rights of fellow artists and always strive to avoid situations where another artist's set is canceled or moved. They also clarified that decisions regarding event schedules are ultimately made by the organizers, and their contracts include a stipulation that they will only perform if no other artists' sets are canceled or rescheduled.
Dwta also released a statement on Facebook, urging supporters not to blame other artists, emphasizing that the responsibility for the mishap lies with the event organizers.
Tanya Markova Issue
The FEU Diliman incident resurfaced a 2022 controversy involving Tanya Markova at the Camanava Grand Rally for then-Vice President Leni Robredo. Tanya Markova previously stated that Ben&Ben's performance disrupted the event lineup, causing confusion and affecting other artists.
In their recent statement, Ben&Ben addressed the issue directly, asserting that they were also victims of unforeseen delays at the event and had no intention of sidelining other artists. They reiterated that the responsibility for the scheduling issues lies with the organizers.
The band shared that they had communicated with Tanya Markova and other involved parties after the event in 2022, even apologizing on behalf of the organizers. Ben&Ben also mentioned that they have evidence to support their claims and hope their statement will clarify the situation and hold the correct parties accountable.
As of now, Tanya Markova has not released a new statement on the matter.
