Senator Joel Villanueva expressed his disapproval on Thursday after seeing Philippine law enforcement officers taking photos, including 'selfies,' with dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo. This occurred when Indonesian authorities handed Guo over to Philippine officials.
"So unprofessional," Villanueva said in a Viber message to reporters following a lengthy Senate investigation into Guo's alleged escape from the Philippines. "Seriously, do you want to take a picture with this treacherous fugitive?" he added, criticizing the officers' behavior.
Villanueva shared a photo of four National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) officers posing inside a car with Guo. He also provided another photo showing an NBI officer taking a selfie with Guo and Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos.
As of the latest updates, GMA News Online has reached out to the NBI and Secretary Abalos for comments on Villanueva's statements but has not yet received a response.
Guo, who was arrested in Indonesia on Wednesday morning, is expected to arrive in the Philippines on Thursday night. She has consistently denied all allegations against her, including claims of her involvement in the operations of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban, Tarlac.
