Filipino actor Joshua Garcia made his voice acting debut as Lance Slashblade in the Filipino dub of Inside Out 2, revealing that the experience was both nerve-wracking and rewarding. In the highly anticipated film, Lance is a macho but insecure video game character whom Riley, the main character, once had a crush on.
Garcia admitted that he felt anxious about the role, comparing his initial thoughts to the film's Emotions, particularly Fear and Anxiety. He shared that voice acting required a different approach from his usual on-screen performances, pushing him to be more expressive in the recording booth.
"I thought it was easy, but it's hard because you have to hold onto something while voicing out your emotions," Garcia said. He found a connection with Lance Slashblade, noting that, like Lance, he sometimes struggles with the idea of being looked up to by others.
Inside Out 2, set to stream on Disney+ Philippines starting September 25, follows Riley as she enters high school, introducing new emotions like Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui to her internal world.
